The extraordinary urban location in front of the Old Pinakothek, with its large open areas, proposed the idea of completing this space with a calm building to the south, with the same proportions as the Old Pinakothek. The Cologne architect Peter Böhm built a glass and concrete construction in this space for the new Egyptian Museum and for the film school, whose structural shell and facade designs make clear references to the Old Pinakothek.
The wall that skirts the whole lower part of the building is broken up by the university foyer, which also provides space for public festivals with evening movie screenings. Hybrid humidifiers from Condair provide a constant supply of hygienic humidity.

Patented HygienePlus® method
Basically, air conditioners and humidification devices are not sterile areas. Even when humidifying water of drinking-water quality is used, this is never completely germ-free. Therefore, microbes can always settle and form hazardous biofilms in humidifiers and in damp areas of air conditioners. Suitable hygiene measures are therefore essential to hinder the growth and propagation of pathogens in adiabatic humidifiers. The germ diagram points out the rapid propagation of microorganisms when no appropriate steps are taken to contain them. The patented HygienePlus® method provides for healthy air and a lasting hygienic environment.
Energy-efficient low-pressure system
The low-pressure mode of operation translates to significant energy savings due to the lesser compression work. By combining the Condair DL humidifier and the reverse osmosis of the Condair AT2, even a pressure booster pump on the humidification system becomes superfluous!
Schematic layout
Low-pressure systems generally get by with a significantly shallower design depth than high-pressure humidifiers. Due to the arrangement of the evaporator ceramics so that they cover the full area, and as a result of the spray cone of the molecular diffuser nozzles, the entire overall depth of the Condair DL can be reduced to up to 600 mm. Thanks to its compact design, the humidification chamber can also be shortened, achieving a significant saving in materials.
